Among the best Spider-Man stories you'll find in the many comic book series featuring Marvel's most popular superhero, The Amazing Spider-Man's first-ever issues and Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man series remain two of the most reliable first-time reads for newcomers to the world of the iconic webslinger. That's why we think these two Black Friday deals are so good. Read on below.

The Amazing Spider-Man (Penguin Classics Marvel Collection) ($24.69)

This first deal is pretty solid, with the price going down to $24.69 from $50.00 (51% off). It's also not what you'd find at first glance among the many Spider-Man books and comics available. Penguin Classics Marvel Collection "presents the origin stories, seminal tales, and characters of the Marvel Universe to explore Marvel’s transformative and timeless influence on an entire genre of fantasy." And what Marvel character is more influential than New York's most famous webslinger?

This anthology contains twelve key stories from the first two years of Spider-Man's publication history (from 1962 to 1964), and comes with a foreword by Jason Reynolds. Moreover, the Deluxe Hardcover edition features "gold foil stamping, gold top stain edges, and special endpapers with artwork spotlighting series villains, and full-color art throughout."

Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1 ($66.49)

In 2000, Marvel launched the Ultimate Universe, a (very successful) attempt to reinvent Spider-Man and his mythos while preserving what everyone loves about the character and those who surround him. This 1000-page volume collects the first three years of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley's fan-favorite, award-winning take on the web-slinger. It's all about Peter Parker's early days as Spider-Man in this new continuity and how he "struggles to balance his new life with the demands of high school: puberty, homework, and dating!"

This chonker is down to $66.49 from $125.00, so that's a huge saving. Whoever receives this omnibus as a present at Christmas will surely become a massive fan of the Marvel superhero, as we genuinely think you can't go wrong with Ultimate Spider-Man's early days.
