Alien: Earth season 1 release date: When Noah Hawley’s Xenomorphs will arrive on FX

The highly anticipated small screen entry in the beloved and horrifying Alien franchise is creeping up fast.

In 1979, the world changed when Ridley Scott's Alien arrived in theaters. In the intervening years the franchise continued to grow, with six additional movies, including the seminal 1986 sequel from James Cameron, Aliens. And that's not to mention the three Alien vs. Predator movies. But soon, the franchise is going where it never has before thanks to Noah Hawley. Soon, the release date for the franchise's first TV show, Alien: Earth, will arrive. So when can you expect to see Alien: Earth season 1 on FX and Hulu?

The Alien: Earth release date is August 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on Hulu and FX. The first two episodes of the series will be available for streaming on Hulu at that time, and will simultaneously air on FX. Alien: Earth season 1 will be comprised of eight episodes total, with one new episode debuting on a weekly basis after that. Even in a summer packed with exciting television release dates, Alien: Earth is sure to have everyone talking. Here's the trailer for Alien Earth season 1:

In Alien: Earth, the action moves closer to home. In 2120, Earth is governed by five megacorporations, and synthetics and cyborgs live side by side with humans. The show's protagonist is Wendy (Sydney Chandler), a human whose consciousness was transferred into a synthetic body. But matters are complicated when the USCSS Maginot crash lands in Prodigy City. It seems the ship was carrying five alien samples from the far reaches of the galaxy. And one of them will be disturbingly familiar to fans of the Alien franchise. The series also stars Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis and Adarsh Gourav.

Season 1 of Alien: Earth debuts August 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on Hulu and FX.
