After he’s won audiences’ hearts with his new Disney+ series this January, Marvel Comics is moving to put Simon Williams back in the spotlight with a new five-issue comic book series bringing the actor-superhero face to face with the worst parts of his past.

Tantalizingly described by Marvel as “a saga sure to make headlines,” the new Wonder Man series pushes the fully-reformed former supervillain — that’s how he was first introduced, all the way back in 1964’s Avengers #9! — into a confrontation with someone he never thought he’d see again: his former cellmate, Rudolph Chancellor. But what does Chancellor want, and is it something Simon is prepared to give?

The series is written by Gerry Duggan, who brought the character into his 2024 West Coast Avengers run, and admitted in a statement, “Wonder Man has always been a favorite of mine, and so’s Mark Buckingham,” with the latter illustrating the new run. “To be able to collaborate with one of the kings of comics and a true gentleman has been a thrill and a privilege. Simon Williams dreams of Hollywood, and his city and show business has had a rough go of it. Join us for a very special debut, starring Wonder Man, his chosen family and the one he was born into. This one's going to be special.”

Wonder Man #1 — featuring covers from Paulo Siqueira, Buckingham, Phil Noto, and Netho Diaz — will be released March 18, 2026. Until then, we’re going to wonder just what is being planned that’s so special and headline-generating. (Wonder Man, the TV show, drops on Disney+ January 27.)
