During New York Comic Con 2025, several cast and crew members from the upcoming movie Mortal Kombat II had the chance to sit down with Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson in The Studio. Cast members Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, and Martyn Ford, writer Jeremy Slater, director Simon McQuoid and Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon all joined Robinson for a discussion of all things Mortal Kombat. This included the cast’s attempt to describe the upcoming movie in just three words.
Robinson posed the question: “Not trying to tread too far into spoiler territory, but how would you describe Mortal Kombat II in three words or less?”
Rudolph answered, “Brutal.” Ford answered, “Bloody.” Urban said, “Epic.” And Gabrielle responded, “Heartfelt.” “Best action movie of the year, how about that?” Slater offered.
Robinson followed up on Gabrielle’s answer, saying, “Now I just want to be like, ‘Tell me if I’m going to cry.’”
“You will, you definitely will,” Boon remarked.
“Are there really several moments that are designed to tug at our heartstrings?” Robinson asked. “Yeah,” Boon confirmed. “I’ve seen this one scene a few times, and each time I cried.”
